Improve Cashflow with Electronic Dockets

Forestry Corporation of NSW (FCNSW) is the largest manager of commercial native and plantation forests in NSW. It manages more than two million hectares of forests for the economic, environmental and social benefit of the people of NSW and Australia and adds nearly $3 billion to the NSW economy annually.

However, like many other forestry organisations, FCNSW had relied on paper-based docketing processes to record customer deliveries by its haulage contractors.

This process introduced difficulties and inefficiencies relating to data accuracy and timeliness. Completed dockets would take weeks to be physically returned and entered into back-end systems.

The difficulty in receiving accurate delivery information in a timely manner impacted FCNSW from a revenue assurance and business intelligence perspective. It also provided no added value to its partners or customers.

EDx App from Mobile Mentor Using BlinkMobile Platform

Working in close collaboration, Mobile Mentor and FCNSW scoped and designed a mobile solution to address their problems.

The solution had to be simple to use, but complex in its implementation to solve real world operations challenges.

In addition to offline capability, the solution provides customised background tracking and reporting on deliveries. Using the BlinkMobile platform, Mobile Mentor developed the EDx solution as a cross-platform app and also developed a PC-based tracking portal which is used by FCNSW, their contractors and customers to view real-time delivery information.

Key Functionality

Offline capability
Multi OS/form factor support
Custom GPS tracking
Transfer docket to a new user/device mid delivery

Real-Time Tracking of Work in Progress

The new mobile solution gives customers, contractors and FCNSW operations managers real-time insight on delivery information helping with customer production planning, FCNSW logistics scheduling and much more.

The app has reduced duplicated data entry and improved data accuracy due to transcription errors. This in turns is allowing Forestry Corp and its partners to focus on using the information to improve their businesses rather than just collecting it.
