Smart City Needs a Smart App
Sunshine Coast Council is on a journey to building a “Smart City” with integrated assets and facilities to provide better information and services. Sunshine Coast Council required a mobile app to augment the Smart City initiative, to allow engagement with residents and visitors to the region, providing rich information and digital access to council services.
Bluetooth Beacons & Agile App Development
Since the Sunshine Coast Council already used a mobile app platform for its internal apps, Mobile Mentor offered to leverage the platform’s capabilities and the existing integration into the council’s back-end systems to create a public-facing app. Working with the Council using an Agile approach, Mobile Mentor were able to deliver the first iteration in a timeframe of weeks.
Since then we have worked with the council to deliver subsequent phases of the app in 2 week sprints.
Deployed via iOS and Android app stores for smart phone and tablet devices.

Improved Experience for Visitors and Residents
The app collates an extensive amount of data providing residents and visitors to the Sunshine Coast information about facilities & events, council contacts and provides access to submit service requests. In addition, the solution is using beacon technology which the council is implementing across the region (nature trails, CBD, galleries, airport etc.)
