‘All it would take is for someone to sit down with me for 1 hour. I tried myself, I got instructions from the carrier, but it’s too hard’. For Nokia New Zealand Director, Denis O’Shea, hearing this lament from one of his business contacts was a defining moment. In 2004 he decided to start his own company, Mobile Mentor, and developed a unique one-to-one mentoring service to help busy people unlock the full potential of their smartphone. Within three years, the company had expanded into Australia, Brazil and China working with leading mobile operators.
As the years went on, smartphones were becoming more widespread and Mobile Mentor changed its focus to serve enterprise and government organisations who were struggling to support all these new smartphone users, adding new innovative services and internal IT prowess to support IT Departments to manage mobility.
Fast-forward to today and Mobile Mentor is still about maximising people’s productivity using mobile technology, whether through mobile enterprise apps, user adoption management, 24/7 helpdesk, mobile device management, strategy consulting or mobile expense management.
