A Complex Endpoint Ecosystem

Fairview Health Systems, a leading healthcare provider headquartered in Minneapolis, faced challenges due to a complex endpoint ecosystem. With over 34,000 computers and 11,000 mobile devices, Fairview managed devices across multiple platforms including SCCM, SOTI, XenMobile, and AirWatch.

This complexity posed significant challenges for the Fairview Health IT team. Patching third-party applications was a manual process due to SCCM limitations and  device provisioning was all done manually in the office. The mobile user experience suffered due to policy restrictions and a large number of user profiles that were difficult to navigate.

Understanding the need to address this complexity and streamline device management, the team embarked on a project to modernize their endpoint ecosystem.

“Our team is more confident, empowered, and engaged in the work that they do every day. And they can see how the vision that we collectively put together for how we will transform our mobility environment.”

A Strategic Partnership

Jason Garbisch, IT Infrastructure Director at Fairview Health, initiated discussions with Microsoft regarding their technology choices, particularly Intune. Microsoft recommended collaborating with a specialized partner to expedite the technical planning, development, and deployment process. Consequently, Fairview formed a partnership with Mobile Mentor.

Simplifying the Endpoint Ecosystem

The Fairview engineering team teamed up with Mobile Mentor to address their challenges. They underwent an assessment and technical audit, identifying areas for improvement. These included developing a cohesive mobility program, enhancing user experience, refining policy and security restrictions, and optimizing device provisioning, profile management, and app delivery.

“One thing I’ve seen is the confidence and conviction coming from our engineers. That is a testament to the partnership that we’ve had with Mobile Mentor and the mentoring that they are providing our staff. I feel we now have momentum on our side.”
